Turkish police has found a 1,4kg of Californium

      In the Turkish Capital, Ankara, during an anti-smuggling raid, the police found 1,4 kg of radioactive material which seems to be californium. Four people were arrested.

      The four suspects were part of a group that had planned to sell it for $70 million

       The californium has been subjected to a more in-depth test by Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK) to determine where it came from.

        Californium is a radioactive material only produced in the US and Russia. The californium-252 isotope, is used for treat some forms of cancer and also for nuclear reactors. This radioactive material is produced in very small quantity.

It was named californium because it was first synthesized in a University laboratory in California in 1950.

       A Ankara, la capitale turque, lors d'un raid anti-contrebande, la police turque a trouvé 1,4 kg de matière radioactive qui semble être du californium. Quatre personnes ont été arrêtées.

       Les quatre suspects font partie d'un groupe qui prévoyait de vendre ce matériel pour 70 millions de dollars.

        Le californium a été soumis à un test plus approfondi par L’Autorité turque de l'Energie atomique (TAEK) pour déterminer d'où il venait.

         Le californium est une matière radioactive produite uniquement aux États-Unis et en Russie. L'isotope californium-252 est utilisé pour traiter certaines formes de cancer ainsi que pour les réacteurs nucléaires. Ce matériel radioactif est produit en très petite quantité.

          Son nom est californium car il a été synthétisé en laboratoire universitaire en Californie en 1950.
