Suicide attack in Istanbul's Taksim Square
Last Sunday just after 9 GMT near Istanbul's Taksim square, a very crowded place, a suicide bomber blew himself up next to a police vehicle and injured 32 people, including 15 policemen.
According to Istanbul police chief Hüseyin Çapkın, the male bomber was in his early 20s. He failed to get into a parked police van and then detonated the bomb outside.
The bomber was killed in the explosion. Among the victims, 23 people were seriously injured and transferred to hospitals with no life at risk.
The Government accused nobody but suspects the PKK (Kurdish Workers' Party), listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union. The main targets were the police even if many people were injured during the attack.
The Police discovered some explosive devices and worked to defuse them after they sealed off all roads leading to Taksim Square, to protect the population.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said "We are one, we are united, and we are brothers and sisters. We will foil this game as long as we stay united and together."

Dimanche dernier, le 31 octobre, juste après 9h. GMT, près de la place Taksim d' Istanbul, un lieu très fréquenté, un kamikaze s'est fait exploser près d'un véhicule de police et a blessé 32 personnes, dont 15 policiers.
Selon le chef de la police d'Istanbul, Hüseyin Çapkın, le terroriste de sexe masculin et âgé d'une vingtaine d'année a tenté de pénétrer dans un fourgon de police à l'arrêt, puis a fait exploser la bombe à l'extérieur du véhicule.
Seul le kamikaze a été tué dans l'explosion. Parmi les victimes, 23 blessés dans un état grave ont été envoyés dans des hôpitaux, mais leur vie n’est pas en danger.
Le gouvernement n'a accusé personne, mais on soupçonne le PKK (Parti des travailleurs kurdes), considéré comme une organisation terroriste par la Turquie, les États-Unis et l'Union européenne. Les principales cibles étaient les forces de police, même si beaucoup de gens ont été blessés pendant l'attaque.
La police a découvert des dispositifs explosifs et les a désamorcés après avoir bouclé toutes les voies menant à la place Taksim, pour protéger la population.
Le Premier ministre turc Recep Tayyip Erdogan a réagi en déclarant: «Nous sommes un seul peuple, et nous sommes frères et sœurs. Nous continuerons à déjouer ces actes aussi longtemps que nous resterons soudés. »
