The blame game goes on between USA and Turkey
Two American citizens are accused of conspiracy against the regime of Recep Tayip Erdoģan. One of them, Graham Fuller, is an ex-CIA agent. Turkey accused him of having participated in the 2016 coup. The Turkish government suspects Mr. Fuller to be close to Fethullah Gulen, the main opponent to Mr. Erdoģan. The second American is an academic, Mr. Henri Barkey. These charges are supported by pro-Kremlin propaganda, as Russia supports Erdoģan.
One of the reasons for these charges is the declaration of Reza Zarrab, a Turkish trader. He accuses President Erdoģan of helping Iran despite American sanctions. Another reason is the trial in the US of two Turkish citizens very close to Mr. Erdoģan.
Turkish propaganda has a lot of influence and many people in Turkey think the charges are grounded.

États-Unis-Turquie : accusations en tous genres
Deux citoyens américains sont accusés d’avoir conspiré contre le président turc Recep Tayip Erdoģan. Le premier est un ancien agent de la CIA qui, selon la propagande, serait proche de M. Gulen et une des têtes pensantes du coup d’état de 2016. Le deuxième est un universitaire. Ces accusations sont appuyées par Moscou, allié d’Erdoģan.
M. Erdoģan a récemment été mis en cause par un homme d’affaires à la réputation douteuse qui l’accuse d’avoir aidé clandestinement l’Iran malgré les sanctions américaines. Par ailleurs, deux proches du président turc sont actuellement jugés aux Etats-Unis.
Beaucoup de Turcs sont sensibles à ces accusations, la propagande d’Ankara étant très influente.
