Turkey roiled by a series of attacks

On January 6 at 5:20 p.m., an explosion was heard in the tourist district of Sultanahmet in Istanbul.

The attack stopped the public transports during a few hours in the district as the police sealed off the area for investigations.

A woman had entered a police station, saying that she had lost her wallet and detonated the bomb.

Two police officers were injured, one critically and the other most lightly.

Unfortunately, the former died of his injuries a few hours later.

The terrorist, who was wearing a niqab (a headscarf) died in the attack. Her identity and nationality are unknown.

The attack hasn’t been claimed by any terrorist group yet. That was the second attack on the police in the week.

The first one took place near the prime minister's office, when a man fired his gun and threw grenades on the wall. Fortunately, nobody was injured. The Marxist group DHKP-C, regarded as a terrorist organisation by Turkey and other countries such as the US, claimed it was behind the first attack.

Furthermore, there were skirmishes between Kurdish groups and police in the south-east of the country recently.

La Turquie en proie aux attentats

Le 6 janvier 2015 à 17h20, une explosion a été entendue dans le quartier touristique de Sultanahmet à Istanbul.

L’attaque a interrompu les transports en commun pendant quelques heures, le temps que la police boucle la zone afin de commencer ses investigations.

Une femme est entrée dans un commissariat, prétendant qu’elle avait perdu son portefeuille avant de se faire exploser.

Deux officiers de police ont été blessés, un gravement et l’autre plus légèrement. Malheureusement, le premier a succombé à ses blessures quelques heures plus tard.

La terroriste, qui portait un niqab (un voile), a trouvé la mort dans cette attaque suicide. L’identité de la jeune femme ainsi que sa nationalité demeurent inconnues.

Jusqu’à présent, l’attaque n’a pas encore été revendiquée. C’est la deuxième attaque visant la police en une semaine.

La première a touché les bureaux du premier ministre. Un homme a tiré des coups de feu et lancé des grenades sur l’enceinte du ministère. Heureusement, personne n’a été blessé ce jour là. L’organisation marxiste DHKP-C, considérée comme terroriste par la Turquie et d’autres pays comme les Etats-Unis, a revendiqué la première attaque.

De plus, des accrochages ont récemment eu lieu entre des Kurdes et les forces de l’ordre dans le Sud-est du pays.
