A different view of Human Rights

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan received the Al-Gaddafi international prize for Human Rights on Monday for his ”distinguished service to humanity”, which he said will further encourage him to fight for Human Rights.
Erdogan traveled to Lybia for an official visit, and he was presented with the Human Rights award.
In his speech at the award ceremony, Erdogan said islamophobia is a crime against humanity, adding that no one can attack things that are sacred to Muslims using freedom expression as an excuse. “Muslims come from a tradition that regard anti-Semitism as a crime against humanity”, the prime minister said. He added that he would continue to bravely protect the “truth”, adding that everyone is equal when it comes to justice. He said the prize he received would strengthen and support his struggle for Human Rights.
“The only thing we want in our region and in the globe is peace and justice. If there is prosperity in the region, every state will benefit. All regional states would benefit from peace, harmony and stability. Everyone must be sure on one thing: whatever we want for ourselves, we also want for others” Erdogan said, also evoking relationships between Turkey and the Middle East.
The al-Gaddafi international prize for Human Rights is an annual prize established in 1988 founded by and named after Libyan leader Muammar Al-Gaddafi.
According to its website, the prize is awarded to one of the “international personalities, bodies or organizations that have distinctively contributed to rendering an outstanding human service and has achieved great actions in defending Human Rights, protecting the causes of freedom and supporting peace everywhere in the world”.
The prize has attracted controversy over its selection.

Le premier ministre turc Recep Tayyip Erdogan a reçu lundi dernier le prix Kadhafi des Droits de l'Homme pour ses « services distingués en faveur de l'humanité.» Erdogan s'est rendu en Lybie en visite officielle où il a obtenu son prix.
Dans son discours pendant la cérémonie, Erdogan a présenté l'islamophobie comme un crime contre l'humanité, en ajoutant que personne ne pouvait attaquer les valeurs sacrées des Musulmans sous prétexte de la liberté d’expression. « Les Musulmans sont issus d'une tradition qui considère l'antisémitisme comme un crime contre l'humanité», a dit le premier ministre, ajoutant qu'il continuerait courageusement de protéger la «vérité», et que chacun avait droit à l’égalité devant la justice. Il a annoncé que ce prix ne pourrait que renforcer et soutenir sa lutte pour les Droits de l'Homme.
« Les seules choses que nous voulons dans notre région et dans le monde sont la paix et la justice. Si la région prospère, tous les états en bénéficieront. Tous les états de notre région bénéficieraient de la paix, de l'harmonie et de la stabilité. Chacun doit être sûr d'une chose: ce que nous voulons pour nous, nous le souhaitons aussi pour les autres.» a déclaré Erdogan en évoquant aussi les relations entre la Turquie le le Moyen-Orient.
Le prix Kadhafi des Droits de l'Homme est un prix annuel créé en 1988 et qui porte le nom de son fondateur le dirigeant libyen Mouammar Kadhafi.
Cette récompense est décernée à «des personnalités internationales, à des individus ou à des organisations qui ont clairement contribué ou rendu un service exceptionnel à l'homme, qui ont accompli de grandes œuvres pour défendre les Droits de l'Homme, préserver la liberté et soutenir la paix partout dans le monde», selon le site internet du prix.
Le prix est à l'origine de diverses controverses.
