Turkey vs. the Netherlands
On March 3, The Dutch Prime Minister received the confirmation that there would be a meeting of the head of Turkish diplomacy in the Netherlands.
The Hague opposed the plan and canceled the meeting on March 8. But Mevlut Cavusoglu, the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs dug in his heels. So, The Hague withdrew landing permission for the Minister and prevented his family from going to the Turkish Consulate in Rotterdam before deporting them.
The Turkish president was outraged and said “Nazism is alive in the West” and that Netherlands would pay the price for it.
The crisis has flared up as Turkey demands apologies. This conflict may have consequences on the Turkish economic situation because the Netherlands is actually the top investor in Turkey.

Le 3 mars, le Premier Ministre hollandais a reçu la confirmation qu’il y aurait un meeting du chef de la diplomatie turque aux Pays-Bas.
La Haye y était opposée et a annulé la réunion 8 mars. Mais Mevlut Cavusoglu, le ministre des affaires étrangères turc a persisté dans son intention et les Pays-Bas lui ont interdit d’atterrir, ont empêché sa famille de se rendre au consulat de Turquie à Rotterdam et les ont expulsés du pays.
Le président turc furieux a déclaré « Ce sont des vestiges du nazisme, ce sont des fascistes ! » et a ajouté que les Hollandais allaient le payer.
La dispute a pris de l’ampleur et la Turquie exige des excuses. Ce conflit pourrait avoir des conséquences sur l’économie turque car le principal investisseur en Turquie sont en fait les Pays-Bas.
