Turkey joins Coalition
Thursday 2 October, Turkey decided to join the US-led coalition against ISIS after ISIS fighters threatened the town of Kobane, near the Turkish border and after 46 Turkish hostages were released last month.
The Syrian Kurds who have found a shelter in Turkey are divided about the military intervention.
Some of them agree with the Turkish government because they have family or friends at Kobane. Other Syrians think that it’s just an excuse to create a buffer zone. Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad said that it was an act of aggression against Syria, because the Turkish government wants to see a regime change in Syria.
The situation is very tense between Turkey and Syria.

La coalition rejointe par la Turquie

Le jeudi 2 octobre, la Turquie a décidé de rejoindre la Coalition dirigée par les Etats Unis contre les djihadistes, alors qu’ils menacent la ville de Kobane, proche de la frontière turque, et après la libération de 46 otages turcs le mois dernier.
Les Kurdes Syriens qui ont trouvé refuge en Turquie sont divisés sur le sujet de l’intervention militaire. Certains sont d’accord avec le gouvernement turc parce qu’ils ont de la famille ou des amis à Kobane. D’autres Syriens pensent que c’est juste un prétexte pour créer une zone tampon. Le président syrien Bachar el-Assad a dit que c’était un acte d’agression envers la Syrie parce que la Turquie aimerait que le régime politique de la Syrie change.
La situation est donc très tendue entre les deux pays.
