Diplomatic tension with Iraq

The Iraqi foreign ministry summoned the Turkish ambassador to condemn a "provocative” comment from the Turkish prime minister concerning a military operation planned to recapture Mosul. He said that if the Sunni region passes under the control of the Shiite militia, this could create tensions between the Shiites and the Sunni. 

The relations between Iraq and Turkey deteriorated last year when Turkey brought unauthorized military troops in the region of Bashiqa for created a force to fight IS. Bagdad said it was a violation of its territory and demanded they withdraw, which Ankara ignored.

During a Parliamentary session, Erdogan expressed his wish that Ankara joins the battle for Mosul as Turkey has been suffering for many years of the Terrorist threat and always supported Iraq’s territorial integrity, stability and security. 

The Iraqi government decided to consider the Turkish troops as a "force of occupation".
The tension could degenerate into a regional war.


Tension diplomatique avec l'Irak

Mercredi, le ministre des affaires étrangères irakien a convoqué l’ambassadeur turc pour condamner un commentaire jugé provoquant du premier ministre turc, Binali Yildirim, formulé la veille concernant une opération militaire planifiée autour de Mossoul.

Il avait déclaré que si la région sunnite passait sous le contrôle de la milice chiite, cette situation pourrait causer un conflit entre Chiites et Sunnites.

Les relations entre l'Irak et la Turquie se sont détériorées l'année dernière, quand la Turquie a envoyé des troupes sans l’autorisation du gouvernement irakien dans la région de Bashiqa pour lutter contre l’État islamique.

Bagdad a estimé qu’il s’agissait d’une violation de son intégrité territoriale et a demandé le retrait des soldats turcs, ce qu'Ankara a ignoré. Le gouvernement irakien a décidé de considérer les troupes turques comme "une force d'occupation",

Devant le parlement, le président Erdogan a exprimé son souhait qu'Ankara se joigne à la bataille de Mossoul, la Turquie ayant subi pendant de nombreuses années la menace terroriste et a a toujours soutenu l'intégrité territoriale irakienne, la stabilité et la sécurité.

Ces tensions pourraient engendrer un nouveau conflit dans la région.
