Paragliding ready to take off in Anatolia

The beautiful Central Anatolian province of Aksaray is preparing itself to host an extraordinary event for the first time in Turkey: the international paragliding festival.

Professional paragliders from Turkey and around the world will come to the Hasandaği Mountain, the second highest mountain of Central Anatolia. The festival is staged by the Aksaray Culture and Tourism Directorate, the Special Provincial Administration and the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sport.

The Hasandaği Mountain, culminating at 3,253 meters is one of the most important paragliding fields in the world. It takes nearly 6 hours to climb to the top of the mountain from the highest point accessible by car. The festival will take place in a field at an elevation of 1,980 meters but it needs to reach international standard before hosting the festival. According to Mustafa Dogan, the Special Provincial Deputy Director the festival will take place in 2013.

This festival is not only organized to show the potential of the field to other countries, paragliding is a part of a great project: reviving tourism in Central Anatolia and, by this way, the economy of the area. It has already been marketed as a ski center by the Culture and Tourism Ministry but little progress was seen.

The Paragliding Festival is a good way to promote the site. In his project, the ministry plans to revive tableland tourism by building bungalow style house on the mountain and ecotourism in the forest at the foot of the mountain. Sport and sport tourism made a great contribution to cities and countries, said the provincial deputy of Youth and Sport, and it contributes to its economy. Moreover, thanks to this festival, new people will try paragliding, in a country where this sport is not very popular.

Le parapente prêt à décoller en Anatolie

La belle province d’Aksaray dans la région d’Anatolie Centrale se prépare à accueillir un évènement inédit en Turquie : le festival international de parapente.

Des professionnels du parapente venus de Turquie et du monde entier vont sauter du Mont Hasandaǧi, la deuxième montagne la plus haute d’Anatolie Centrale. Le festival est financé par le secrétariat au tourisme et à la culture d’Aksaray, par l’administration de la Province et par le secrétariat provincial de la jeunesse et des sports.

Le Mont Hasandaği, culminant à 3.253 mètres est l’une des principales zones de parapente au monde. Il faut compter 6 heures d’escalades pour atteindre le sommet à partir du plus au point accessible par voiture.La zone a encore besoin d’être mise aux normes internationales mais on sait déjà que les participants sauteront d’une hauteur de 1.980 mètres de haut. D’après Mustafa Doga, député de l’administration de la Province, le festival aura lieu en 2013.

Le festival n’a pas seulement été organisé pour montrer le potentiel du terrain à l’international, il fait en fait partie d’un grand projet: relancer le tourisme en Anatolie Centrale et par ce fait, l’économie de la région. En effet, la zone avait déjà été promue centre de sport d’hiver par le ministre de la Culture et du Tourisme mais le ministre n’avait pas enregistré les bénéfices escomptés.

Le festival de parapente est un bon moyen de promotion. Le projet de relance du tourisme ne consiste pas seulement à promouvoir le parapente, des bungalows seront construits sur le mont Hasandaği et l’écotourisme sera développé dans la forêt au pied du mont. Le sport et le tourisme du sport apporte une grande contribution aux villes et aux pays, selon le délégué local de la jeunesse et des sport et cela relance leur économie. De plus, grâce à ce festival, de nouveaux adeptes du parapente devraient apparaître dans un pays où ce sport n’est pas encore très populaire.
