A hurtful decision
Last week, Mr.Erdogan, the Turkish Prime Minister, said during an interview with the BBC, that he would expel to their country, 100,000 of the 170,000 Armenians now living in Turkey, because they are not Turkish citizens. Moreover, thousands of them work illegally.
However, Mr.Sarkisian, the Armenian Prime Minister, answered that this decision reminded Armenians of the time when 1.5 million of them were deported and killed by the Ottoman Empire, in 1915.
Mr.Erdogan added that even if the United States of America, Sweden, and more than twenty countries talk about the mass killings of thousands of Armenians as genocide, the Turkish government refuses to recognise it this way because it took place during the first World War, so thousands of Turks died too, and the number of Armenian victims does not reach the one million mark, he claims.
That is why the attempts made recently to bring Turkey and Armenia closer are faltering.
My opinion:
it would be better for Armenian people living in Turkey, to go back and live peacefully rather than be discriminated against. Moreover, I don't think that if the Turkish government accepted to consider the killings as genocide, it would change many things.

Après que le Premier Ministre, M.Erdogan, a déclaré vouloir renvoyer dans leur pays cent mille des 170.000 Arméniens vivant en Turquie car ils n'ont pas la nationalité turque, le Premier Ministre arménien M.Sarkisian a rétorqué que cette déclaration avait blessé les Arméniens et leur avait rappelé les milliers de personnes tuées en 1915 par l'Empire Ottoman.
Or, le gouvernement turc ne reconnaît pas le massacre comme un génocide, à l'inverse des États-Unis et d'une vingtaine d'autres pays et nie le fait qu'il y ait eut plus d'un million de victimes durant la première guerre mondiale, pendant laquelle, des milliers de Turcs sont également morts.
C'est la raison pour laquelle les tentatives de rapprochement entre la Turquie et l'Arménie, connaissent des difficultés ces derniers temps.
Mon opinion:
Il serait préférable pour les Arméniens qui vivent en Turquie, de retourner dans leur pays, afin d'éviter de se sentir rejetés. De plus, je ne crois pas que si le gouvernement turc modifiait sa position, cela pourrait changer grand chose, car à présent, tout ceci appartient au passé.
